Iโ€™m a 215 lbs man.

I do not look like the photo I added. I wonโ€™t fit his style, I wonโ€™t look that cool, and I definitely wonโ€™t be able to move in his outfit, but I love dressing well and putting my best foot forward.

For years, I put off buying that one beautiful suit or jacket because I had the same ๐Ÿ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐š๐ง๐ฑ๐ข๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ everyone does. What about that diet and exercise program Iโ€™m about to start? Iโ€™m going to lose weight! Iโ€™ll have lost thousands of dollars making a custom garment! Better wait, or God forbid, what happens if I gain MORE weight. Then this bloody thing will haunt me in my closet, reminding me what a fat loser I am for failing another goal and spending money on something nice.

I spent years fantasizing and planning my perfect purchase (yes, I get obsessed about things). Then one day, I said, โ€œF### it, letโ€™s do itโ€โ€ฆ. And boy did I screw up. So hereโ€™s 4 ๐™ฉ๐™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™จ I learned that might save you time and heartache:

โ™ฆ 1. You can make a garment look like a modelโ€™s photoโ€”Thatโ€™s right, even if youโ€™re a bigger guy like me, you can get a suit tailored so that when youโ€™re standing upright and perfectly still, you will have the perfect silhouette and v taper. Hereโ€™s the catch, you canโ€™t move. So for all you guys out there whose job or life requires you not to stand perfectly still like a model, hereโ€™s some more practical advice. My primary focus in my business is visiting clients. Iโ€™m always pounding the pavement racing to my next appointment. I need to breathe so I donโ€™t show up covered in sweat to my meetings. I need to stand out, but not look like a clown. I need suspender loops if I gain or lose 10 lbs., depending on how well business is going.

โ™ฆ 2. Your trousers donโ€™t need to be tapered. ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ ๐–๐€๐๐“ ๐ซ๐จ๐จ๐ฆ when youโ€™re sitting as a man. Iโ€™m sure all of us have had pants that are too tight, sat down for an hour to work on the computer as our gut presses upon that poor button giving a herculean effort to keep you from exploding.

โ™ฆ 3. Stop making your jacket with tiny shoulders, tiny lapels, skin-tight arms. You are purchasing some of the most exclusive, exotic, scarce and difficult material on earth to farm, mill and dye. So unless you plan to sweat like a harlot at church on a Sunday, tell your tailor you want at least a regular fit. I will be making a guide with extra allowances in the future for guys to take to their tailors.

โ™ฆ 4. Fake material makes you sweat more. Polyurethane derivative material will make you sweat more; will hold on to odour; will stain easier, and once it gets stretched out, will not rebound into original shape. Just because it says itโ€™s made from eucalyptus and blessed by a local healer shaman, does not mean it wonโ€™t give you cancer.

Good luck men!
